Why do the copyright notices on this website read "Unpublished work" ?
The US Copyright Law defines publishing as transfer of information in a physical medium, such as a book or compact disc, and  with no restrictions on disclosure by the recipient. Mere posting of some material on the internet for viewing is not publishing. Similarly, Dak's books do not meet the legal criteria for publishing. The books are unpublished. The latest edition is the sixth edition, version three, and was completed in 2010.

How can I open the pdf files posted on this website?
The pdf files open in Acrobat Reader 9 or X, or in the Nitro PDF Reader Professional. All three readers are free and downloadable over the internet. If you can read the pdf files on this website, you should also be able to open the actual eBooks.

Do you have a Business Policy?
Yes. The Business Policy and Order Form are included in the info.pdf files, which are accessible from the home page.

Are the eBooks downloadable over the internet?
No. The only way to order an eBook is to fill out the Order Form and mail it to Lucid Pages with the appropriate payment.
We only service the United States market and do not intend to ship our books outside the USA.

Do you offer a refund?
No. The only sensible recourse in case of dissatisfaction is to warn others on the internet. To assess the quality of the offered eBooks, read some of the sample topics on this website.

How soon will I receive my eBook?
The Order has to reach our mailbox, be picked up, processed within 7 days, and shipped to the destination. This takes time. The process can be shortened by sending an email to Lucid Pages to announce the mailing of your Order. Simply state:  "eBook ordered", and care will be taken to process your order quickly.

May I discuss the eBook SPELLBOUND with a licensee who only has the eBook THE HUMAN MIND?
You may only discuss the parts that are common to both eBooks. In addition, both eBooks must be of the same edition. The versions can differ.

What does it mean that I am licensed to use an eBook?
When you buy a printed book in a bookstore, the copy is yours. You may usually sell it or lend it to other people to read. Electronic books (eBooks), which are in the form of software, are usually licensed.
When you buy an eBook, you are not the owner of the eBook, but only a licensee. Licensing allows the publisher to better control what may be done with the work. In case of violation of the restrictions, the licensor can revoke the license. The permitted use of the work is typically declared in the End-User License Agreement (EULA). As the name hints, only you may use the work.

Similarly as printed books, also eBooks are copyright protected. The user, owner, or licensee is not allowed to make unauthorized copies of the works. The usual recourse is a lawsuit in a federal court. But unlike regular printed books, software that is licensed under EULA also allows the licensor to sue for a breach of contract, which the EULA represents. This mechanism allows the licensor to sue in state courts, which is a much easier process.

Why can't I receive an eBook at my university, hospital, or place of employment?
The reason is legal. As an employee, you are not the legal owner of your mail, but your employer is. This means that you would be in no position to comply with the requirements of the EULA.

Do you send unsolicited email or materials to your customers?
No. The vast majority of customers is never contacted after the sale of an eBook is completed. The customer contact information is typically used to complete the sale, to resolve unforeseen issues, and to keep a record of the sale.

Can I have answered a question about the material in the eBooks?
We do not discuss non-business issues. However, some of the professional answers might be found on this website.
